A photo can look fine at card size while hiding the detail that actually decides whether it is worth keeping: a soft face, a missed expression, a small piece of text, or an unexpected moment near the edge of a video.
Doggy Cleaner 1.28.0 makes that decision easier in Memory Blind Box. You can now double-tap or pinch a photo or video to open a closer, immersive view without leaving the review flow. The same update also gives double-tap one clear job: viewing. Favorites are now changed only with the dedicated Favorite button.
Zoom in before making a keep-or-clean decision
Memory Blind Box is designed for moving through photos and videos one at a time. That pace is useful for obvious decisions, but some items deserve more than a quick glance.
In version 1.28.0, double-tapping the visible media opens it at a closer scale around the area you touched. It is a fast way to check whether a face is sharp, read text in a screenshot, or inspect a small part of the frame.
When you want more control, start a two-finger spread directly on the photo or video. The media moves smoothly from the card into the immersive viewer, where you can continue adjusting the scale and move around the enlarged content. Card paging pauses while this view is open, so the same gesture does not unexpectedly switch to another item.
The closer view works for both photos and videos
The new interaction is not limited to still images. Memory Blind Box uses the same entry gestures for photos and videos, so a clip can receive the same careful review as a picture.
This is helpful when a video thumbnail does not tell the whole story. A brief blur, an important detail in the background, or the exact framing of a clip can affect whether you keep it. Entering the closer view gives the current item more screen space while preserving the surrounding review session.
When you are finished, a single tap returns to the card. You can also double-tap again from the enlarged state, pinch back down, or swipe vertically to leave the immersive viewer. The goal is to make closer inspection available when needed without turning every item into a separate navigation task.
Double-tap now means view, not Favorite
Before this release, double-tapping an item in Memory Blind Box changed its favorite status. That made a common viewing gesture perform an organizational action, which could lead to accidental favorites when you only wanted to inspect a photo.
Version 1.28.0 separates those intentions:
- Double-tap or pinch when you want a closer look.
- Use the Favorite button when you intentionally want to add or remove a favorite.
- Use the existing cleanup controls only after you have decided what should stay or go.
This makes the result of each gesture easier to predict. Returning to the card after zooming does not silently change the item's favorite state.
Details worth checking before cleanup
Closer viewing matters most when two items appear similar at first glance. Before marking one for cleanup, look for differences such as:
- Focus on faces, pets, documents, or distant subjects
- Expressions and eye contact in a group photo
- Motion blur in action shots and short clips
- Text that is cut off or too soft to read
- Objects near the edge of the frame
- A meaningful moment that is easy to miss in a video preview
If you are comparing several shots from the same moment, the guide to cleaning similar photos without deleting the best shot explains which differences are worth checking. Version 1.28.0 adds a faster way to inspect the current Memory Blind Box item; it does not replace careful comparison across a similar-photo group.
What this update does not change
Zooming is a viewing action only. It does not edit the original file, change image quality, favorite the item, or mark it for deletion. Your normal review controls remain separate.
The final deletion boundary also stays the same: Doggy Cleaner helps you review and mark items, and you confirm the selection before the app enters the iOS system deletion flow. A closer view gives you more information before that decision; it does not make the decision for you.
Get Doggy Cleaner and use double-tap or pinch in Memory Blind Box to inspect the details that matter before you clean up your library.
