Some cleanup decisions are easier in a grid: you can compare nearby screenshots, spot repeated scenes, or find the largest video in a category. Other decisions are easier one item at a time, with a larger preview and focused controls. Having to choose one view for the whole task can slow the review down.
Doggy Cleaner 1.29.0 connects those two ways of working. The screenshot, short-video, and large-video categories now open in a unified grid and card experience. You can scan the category, open any item as a card, keep browsing, and return to the grid at the same position. Video duration and file size are also visible where they help with storage decisions.
Start wide in the grid, then focus in card view
A grid is useful when context matters. Several screenshots may cover the same conversation, multiple clips may come from one event, or two large videos may look almost identical from their thumbnails. Seeing them together makes the first comparison faster.
In version 1.29.0, tapping an item in the updated grid opens the same category in card view. You are not sent into an isolated preview with no connection to the surrounding items. The card browser keeps the category list, so you can move continuously through photos or videos and use its existing review controls.
When you need the overview again, swipe down. The grid returns with the current item kept in view, making it easier to compare that item with its neighbors or choose another place to continue. The back button has a separate purpose: it leaves the category. This distinction makes navigation more predictable—swipe down to change views, or go back when the review session is finished.
The updated flow covers screenshots and video cleanup
The connected experience is used by three practical cleanup entries on the home screen:
- Screenshots, where a grid helps reveal repeated captures and related images
- Short videos, where clips are often easier to compare by scene and duration
- Large videos, where file size can be as important as the thumbnail
These categories still have different content, but they now share the same browsing model. That means less relearning as you move from photo cleanup to video review. You can use the grid when you want comparison and card view when you want a closer, continuous pass.
For a broader process that combines categories, marking, and final confirmation, see the iPhone photo cleanup workflow. Version 1.29.0 improves the movement between views; it does not replace the decisions you make during that workflow.
See video size while deciding what deserves space
A video thumbnail cannot tell you how much storage the file uses. Length helps, but two clips with the same duration can have very different sizes because of resolution, frame rate, or encoding.
The updated short-video and large-video views make this information easier to access. The grid shows video duration and file size together, while card view shows the current video's size near the top. Doggy Cleaner also prepares the sizes of nearby videos so the information can follow the browsing flow without changing the media itself.
File size is a decision aid, not an automatic cleanup rule. A large family video may be worth every megabyte, while a smaller duplicate download may not be worth keeping. Use size to find candidates, then review the content before marking anything. If you want to keep a clip but reduce its footprint, the guide to compressing videos before deletion explains the tradeoff.
Video compression handles more source formats
Version 1.29.0 also improves the compression path. Doggy Cleaner still tries its primary HEVC compression first. If that path cannot process a source video, the app can retry with a more broadly compatible H.264 video and AAC audio output. This is especially useful for clips whose color or audio format does not fit the first encoding path.
Compatibility is not a promise that every damaged or unusual file will compress. If both paths fail, the app now restores the controls and shows clearer, localized guidance for contacting support through Feedback on the Me page. You remain in control of whether to retry, keep the original, or leave the compression screen.
Switching views does not change the original files
Opening card view, returning to the grid, sorting a category, or reading a video size does not edit or delete the original photo or video. These actions only change how the current category is displayed.
The deletion boundary remains explicit. Doggy Cleaner helps you review and mark items, but you inspect the marked selection before continuing to the iOS system deletion flow. Moving more smoothly between grid and cards gives you better context for that decision; it does not make the decision for you.
Get Doggy Cleaner and use the grid for context, card view for focused review, and a quick swipe down whenever you want the overview back.
